MLM Truth Exposed

Ok, lets cut the B.S. let us look at some well known MLM Myths and see if they are fact or fiction. Yes it is time for some real MLM truths.

MLM Myth: The More People You Sponsor The More Money You Will Make

Let us attack this one straight off the bat! This is not true! Now I know some people will not agree but here is my opinion, it is not the number of people you sponsor it is the “quality” of the people you sponsor.

Trust me I when you are focused on building residual income with online MLM you need to feel confident that you do not have a massive team of “inactivity”. What is the point of generating all these home based business leads and recruiting if they never do nothing.

In my experience, if your team is not doing anything it is largely because “YOU” are not doing anything or not getting the results to motivate and train them.

MLM Myth: Network Marketing Is One Big Pyramid!

This is a default response made by ignorant people that do not even know what a pyramid is. My response to this is, “what is a pyramid”?….

You know what? Most people do not even know how to answer. So it is a word that is batted around with no understanding of what it is. I am not saying there are not any bad seeds in the industry, but as a whole, in my opinion this is not factual.

MLM Myth: Follow My System and Make Auto-Pilot Money in 90 Days

This is a myth that makes many people feel that they do not have to do any work. You know, I reckon a lot of people fail because they feel they can start online mlm and setup a system then the leads and money comes in on auto-pilot.

If you work hard and build a slick mlm networking system and split-test the hell out of it, yeah, to an extent, it will produce results for you without “much” intervention. However you need to do the long hours first t get it off the ground.

  • Hey Wayne,

You're right on the money with this post.

"MLM Myth: The More People You Sponsor The More Money You Will Make"

This is so true, I personally know someone who has sponsored around 50 people and who is about to go over $1,000,000 earned. And I also have a family member who has sponsored over 100 people and who struggles to make a full time income off it.

    Quality over Quantity every time.

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • I think a lot of these myths stem from the fact that people don't like to take personal responsibility for their actions...

So if they fail, it's not THEIR fault! Oh no, it's because MLM is a "pyramid scheme."

    Rant done. Great post, Wayne!

  • Hey Wayne,

There are so many ways I've heard to respond to the 'pyramid' question, but I hadn't heard this one before. Too funny! I'd love to see their faces as they look for an answer.

I was just thinking this morning that the term "autopilot" has been seriously over used in this industry and I'm almost to the eye rolling point when I hear it.

Glad to see you exposing the truths!

    Susanna

  • Hey Susanna,

I know how you feel, especially with the whole "Pyramid thing" - that topic will never go away.

Thanks for passing by my friend.

  • Wayne,

At one point I sponsored 10 people in about two weeks and you know
what, I never made a dime off them. It was back when I was doing my
best impression of Buzzy Boxer aka Todd Falcone. I probably should of
said "NO" to 7 of them. Two of them were family members with 0000
motivation and the last was my fault.

The only time your business becomes a pyramid is when you take their money and run, heard of this one many times. I had a meeting when a store about selling product and the guy asked "Isn't this a legalized pyramid??". Some people...To the moon Alice!!!

Your last myth, I know you can agree, since we use the same Attraction Marketing System is that there is no such thing as doing no work. MASSIVE ACTION is what I was told and that means what ever you are doing ---> DOUBLE THAT.

    Enjoyed this!

    The Prospecting Hero

  • Hey Tommy,

Glad you shared your experiences, I know the feeling of getting a few new distributors only to find they like to talk more than doing! :(

But, that is part of the challenge, and i am sure you are like me and love a challenge!

    Thanks for passing by.

  • Auto-pilot...ha ha

There really is no such thing as automatic. It requires some kind of action.

Sometimes we hear people refer to an auto-pilot system, what they aren't telling everyone is what you have to do to get it to auto-pilot, which is not so auto-pilot but a random set of tasks you need to frequently carry out.

    Have a great day,
    Jerome Ratliff

  • Yeah Jerome, it really does need human intervention. Even if it is a little, it is still required.

  • marcusbaker

Having ludicrous expectations and then failing just seems to be setting yourself up for a fall. Rather KNOW what is possible, set yourself challenging goals and take action till you are successful. It's simple but not easy!

    ~Marcus

  • Wise words Marcus, best to have "high" but realistic expectations.

    Thanks for passing by.

  • Hey Wayne,

I love it when I hear "only the people who got in early are making the money." Hellooo...I didn't get in early but yet I'm making money. :)

    Chat with you later...
    Josh

  • Yeah I hate that one too Josh.

Man the amount of traffic you are getting to your blog you must be getting mad conversions! :)

  • It's all one big conspiracy. You are all being brainwashed. By the way "you're getting very sleepy." Uneducated and/or lazy people give this industry a bad name. Sure you can make 100K a month, but it isn't going to happen 90 days after getting started. The guy that advertises that might have taken a snippet out of the 5 years it has taken to get there.

    Eric

  • Funny that, I thought I fell asleep and woke as a 7 figure MLM earner! nice trick Eric! ;)

... and very true, people leave out the hard part of the story to make it look easy.

    Thanks for passing by

  • I read about each false belief all the time Wayne. The pyramid one is what baffles me the most. People automatically link MLM with an illegal scheme because they are to lazy to do their own thinking. There is zero connection between the 2.

Another silly notion is that MLM is a scam. As you mentioned there are a few bad eggs but a scam is usually a 4 letter work for a lazy entrepreneur. Since underachievers don't make as much money as they intended after the first few weeks or months they blame it on the business instead of their own laziness.

MLM'ers or any network marketers are moving targets for the unambitious but it comes with the territory I suppose.

Great post buddy. Thanks for dispelling the myths :)

  • ...yeah what is pyramid? ha

The truth shall set you free, thanks for setting the record straight on MLM

Thanks for passing by my friend.

  • Wayne,

That's a big myth busted with Myth #1. Most people I've come into contact with are sick of their uplines telling them to recruit, recruit and recruit. Well, that's like trying to fill a leaking bucket. Only sponsor people you would want to go on a month long cruise with.

    Best,
    Wayne
