Many times I hear people asking how do you know what to write about in your blog? or how do you know what your prospects want to hear? The answer is, you have to keep your ear to the streets and listen to what your prospects want. This is done with keyword research techniques. The only way to be sure is to have a system to find out what people are asking for.
There are many ways that you can use keyword research techniques to do this, however I am going to explain 3 ways that will not require any keyword research tools. They are quite simple, but like most things, it is only easy when you know how.
A Sneaky Look Using Yahoo Answers
I am sure you have heard of this before, but Yahoo Answers is a very good resource for practically any question you may have. There are many topics outside of the home business niche, but if you look you can find questions about many related topics that you can use for ideas to compile your content.
The great thing is, the users are real people with real problems. That means, no guess work! You can answer questions with your content that is actually needed. If people are asking for something they are “hungry” for answers. If you fill that hunger, you are seen as a valuable resource. Obviously once you have compiled your content you can post a link to your blog as the answer. That means you get direct traffic from yahoo answers as well as useful information for all of your readers.
The Survey Research Method
Another great way to do this is to request some feedback from your list. If you have been using some of the “list building techniques” that I discussed recently then you should be building your list.
You can leverage this list by asking them what they need. Basically ask them to either reply to you with their issues or use “Survey Monkey“. Survey Monkey is a smart website because you can design a survey to get as much info from your list to benefit them. You create the questions and collate the stats for your future content.
