Is Your Network Marketing Strategy Dead As A Dodo?

Have you heard of the Dodo Bird before? I will have a guess, the chances are you haven’t! You see, the Dodo Bird has been extinct since the early 17th Century.

So why the big history lesson?

Well as wonderful as this bird may have been, its time has passed and mother nature has moved on. This is similar to your network marketing strategy, are you still banging your head against the wall with network marketing strategies that are not working for you?

What Has Your Upline Told You?

Let me have a guess, play the numbers game, prospect as many people as you can. If they are breathing then pitch them the “business presentation”. Sooner or later someone will buy into your crazy sales pitch and join you, right? Wrong!

The Brutal Truth About Business!

The bottom line is this, business in general is always changing. The massive companies that have been around for years like Coca Cola, Wall Mart, etc have had to evolve with what people want to keep themselves in business.

I recently noticed that my original MLM company that I still have a down line for has started to see the light and has updated most of its network marketing strategies, I thought I would never see the day!

So, if you do not adapt to changes you are left behind moaning and saying “it doesn’t work”!

How Do You Update Your Network Marketing Strategy?

If you are still using old school techniques like the 3-foot rule, hotel meetings, etc it is time for change. Take the plunge and start marketing online to make good use of your time. You can prospect so much more people by using the power of the Internet, the right way!

To be honest, even when you are online you still need to keep your network marketing strategy up to date, as online marketing itself has now been around for a little while now and strategies come and go fast.

There is so much free information online that you can learn and implement straight away, so I wish you the best, and as Jim Rohn says - “Lets Go Do It”!

  • Here's my best advice: Find a mentor. Sound hard. Not really. You may find someone who knows everything you need to be successful, that is just willing to help. Chances there are slim though. Buying courses is great (I have bought many) but still info that everyone else gets too. I suggest you spend your money on seminars and workshops. Try to find events that put you in conversation with the pro's.

If you are genuine, and put friendship ahead of greed, you can learn things that 99.9$ of marketers don't know.

"If it's not working just do more of it" <- any other industry and this would get laughed at.
Sad fact is that's exactly what some uplines are saying.

Great to see you aren't one of them.

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Hey Wayne,

I snicker as I read this due to the fact my old mlm company is JUST NOW even getting to the point of hotel meetings. You would have thought they invented it!

I have heard of the Dodo bird but didn't realize it had been extinct that long. Thanks for the trivia ; )

Adapting to change is crucial. A saying we used to tell the new class of Flight Attendants was that in the aviation industry "the only thing that is constant is change'. Get used to it!

  • Hey Wayne,

    Great headline!

Change was one area I had to adapt to since it's the nature of our business. Being aware of that and staying current to what is going on in the market has helped set a precedence for me.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Hey Wayne,

I think I remember seeing Dodos in Looney Toons cartoons (LOL)

For me, the key has always been advertising -- even the "old-schoolers" advertise!

  • Hey Wayne,

    Brilliant title!

Embracing the online world for marketing is a must today. It allows people to connect with a much greater crowd.

I don't think no one wants to become a Dodo.

    Have a great weekend...

  • Hey Josh,

I agree, I don't want to be a Dodo either! (ha)

You have a great weekend too buddy.

  • Hey Wayne,

Yes, we have to stay current and do what works. No sense in barking up the same ol' empty tree. Get out there and find what works.

My upline has had a lot of success with old school methods, and they are VERY resistant to change. But that doesn't work for many people, and I certainly didn't have the success I need if I'm going to put that kind of time and effort in.

Great post! Have a wonderful weekend.

  • Hey Cheers Susanna,

I know what you mean, I know leaders that do make quite a bit with old school methods. But as you say you need to find what works for you and "upgrade" your skills.

Have a great weekend too my friend.

  • Lets Go Do It for real.

It is great that more and more NM companies are finally embracing the online world. The reality is if your not online in this information age your business wont survive for long and it will become much like the Dodo, DEAD.

    Happy Friday
    Dwayne

  • Oh for sure, it is lovely to see for sure!

Happy Friday to you too Dwayne.

I think it would be kinda nice to still have Dodos around but I can' t say the same thing about "old school" network marketing. I don't miss it at all.

Thanks for reminding me about how good it is do business like this Wayne!

    Cheers
