How To Use RSS Feeds On Your Website To Generate Some Lazy Traffic!

Warning! I Am Entering My Geek Mode!

I Am Going To Show You How To Use RSS Feeds On Your Website To Generate Some Lazy Traffic!

Hey peeps, I thought I would share a little technical secret with you today. It is quite an effective method I have been using for to supercharge my RSS Feeds for SEO. It is actually quite simple to setup, and the beauty about this method is, once you get it setup you can forget it!

It is the ultimate lazy mans way to optimize their RSS feeds SEO and generate extra traffic.

Get Your Feed

Firstly you need to grab your RSS feed. If you are not sure how to find an RSS feed, I will show you a quick way.

If you use Firefox, look out for an icon like this in your browser:

Click on the Blue icon and you should see an option to subscribe to your RSS feed. Once you click this you will see your RSS feed. Simply copy the address of the RSS feed from the address bar.

Register For FeedBurner

If you have not already, you need to register for Feedburner. If this is new to you, I will briefly explain what it is. It is an RSS feed aggregator and handles your feeds. Take my word for it, it is a good idea to use is.

For this technique it is required, because I am going to show you a little trick with it. I won’t hold your hand step by step to setup the account, as I am sure you are more than capable to do that.

All you need is that RSS feed we gathered from above as an input once you setup your Feedburner account.

Here Is The Magic!

Once you have the feed setup, you need to click the My Feeds, then Publicize tab:

You will notice a little cheeky option called “pingshot”, click on it and you will see this:

Now simply activate it and your done.

How To Use RSS Feeds On Your Website and Take It To The Next Level

Now if you are smart your mind should be able t see all the things you can do with this bad boy! Let me explain what will happen here. Every time you update your post it will automatically create a pingshot and promote your post.

How about if you created a “mini-net” and linked a podcast RSS feed to this (hint hint) so that every time you created a post it would automatically pingshot it, create a podcast and then auto-promote the podcast! Just a suggestion, I will leave it there before I start to get too technical and make you want to run for the hills! (ha)

    Hey Wayne...

First time here my friend. I had to make some space in my "Blogoshere" which was just a tad overcrowded. Have known and used RSS feeds a bit but never used Feedburner so thanks for the great info.

  • Hey Wayne,
Some really good info on RSS. I was behind the curve about using it, but every since I started, I use it on everything. It is a ton easier than having to visit a bunch of sites everyday. You can get updates of new content and view only what you want to.

    Eric McMillan
  • Hey Eric, for sure, it definitely speeds up checking out other posts on regualr blogs - ask the comment Josh "The Coment Ninja" Garcia about that! (ha)
  • As always - Class value here.

The power of RSS is way underestimated and used.

I have been using it for allsorts for a while. Think I may do a post on the other benefits

    Thanks for this
