How To Use Autoresponder Messages and Make Your Prospects Chase You Like Tom and Jerry!

Man I used to love watching those crazy characters Tom and Jerry chasing each other like there was no tomorrow. Tom was so eager to get Jerry (or was it the other way around - ha) that he would go to any lengths to get that mouse!

Chase you like you are a mouse being hunted!

This is similar to some aspects that I love about online marketing, in particular attraction marketing. Rather than leading with your business, you lead with value and make your prospects chase you like you are a mouse being hunted!

Killer Autoresponder Messages

One of the best ways to build rapport with your prospects is to create autoresponder messages. Obviously you need to learn how to build your list first, but if you follow my blog regularly you will see information on doing that.

Daily Broadcasts

After you have some subscribers you have to make them want to do business with you. Autoresponder messages, in particular Broadcasts are a great way to build a relationship. Everyone has their own style of communicating their autoresponder content. I personally like to “keep it real” with my list. Therefore I speak to them as I would anyone else, but insure that I give them some powerful information.

If you are not providing any value to them, forget it. You need to leverage the information that you have provided in your blog and use your autoresponder content to drive them to your site. I like to keep it short and sweet, with a little “taster”, then invite them to read the full article on my blog.

I am not going to pretend that is any more complex than that, keep it simple and leverage your blog content.

  • Hey Wayne,
    Great Article with awesome suggestions.

I too loved watching Tom and Jerry :)

  • Hey Jeff,

Thanks for kind words. Great to see a person that truly believes and teaches attraction marketing.

I wish you all the success as well my friend and thanks for passing by.
  • Hey Wayne,

Tom & Jerry Rocks! Loved waking up on Saturday mornings to watch it.

Using an auto-responder to manage a list is a must to have. Anyone who reads this information needs to know that this is what is going to help them with their list. Knowing what to deliver to your list is crucial.

    Have a great day...
    Josh
  • Hey Josh,

Man I used to love it as well, as you can see. Agreed, knowing what to deliver is crucial.

Thanks for passing by my friend.
  • Oh - cat and mouse games!

I particularly enjoy using my autoresponder to really engage my prospects. When I write my autoresponder I believe it's vitally important to write the message as if you're actually speaking to them.

As you said, "keep it simple". Well said!!!

    Talk to you later,

    Jerome Ratliff
  • Thanks Jerome.

Yeah the simpler the better in my opinion.

    Cheers for passing by buddy!
  • Hey Wayne,
Great info. Do you find that people get annoyed by daily contact? I have tested it with daily blast and 2 times a week and seem to have a lot more response (clickthroughs) and a lot less opt outs.

    Great post,
    Eric
  • That is a good question Eric, I used to feel the same but heard 2 top marketers swear by it.

I have been doing it for a while and it seems to work well. I will be honest, you do get some "moaners" but lets be honest, we don't want them on the list anyway!

    Thanks for passing by.
  • Hey Wayne

Tom & Jerry is a classic. Remember also Wild -E- Coyote and Road Runner, similar chase story, yet another good tie-in with business.

Another little nugget to add to the auto-responder messages which also ties-in with what Chris mentioned about open rate. Get the persons name in the email. Most auto-responders offer the {name} field so you can make the email more personal to the person receiving the email. Also try to involve their name in the call to action after your teaser, this subtly forces them to click the link.

    Love Mondays

  • Ha Dwayne!

Wile E. Coyote and The Roadrunner -- yes, I love them. (Monique and I live in Tucson, Arizona right now and we see roadrunners going through our yard all the time.)

Definitely loving the Tom and Jerry reference, Wayne!

    My email strategy?

I send my best blogs about once a week and I'm working on a 10-day "bootcamp" offer that will sell people on my own funded proposal.

I think having a definite "bribe" is key to getting people on your list and delivering value is key to keeping them.
  • The boot camp is a great idea, I see many people use that to a good effect.

Thanks for sharing that with us Derek.
  • Hey Dwayne,

That is a nice little tip there, about the prospects name in the call to action and the subject, I find that has a big difference!

    Thanks for passing by.
  • Hey Wayne,

I have seen your autoresponder messages, and love the way your send short messages that fit your personality. I can picture that guy laughing with his hands out in the header when I read it.

People can learn a lot from your methods. One thing that you have to stop head on, is people ignoring your emails. It you don't provide top quality or let your prospects get to know you, you are dead in the water. Open rates are just as important as opt-ins.

    Great work Wayne,
  • Hey Chris that is right, the open rate is a big factor that many over look. The conversation is always - "How big is your list", not "How responsive is your lit" like it should be!

    Well said Chris.
