How to Share a Blog Post on Facebook and Get A Stampede Of Hungry Visitors!

The thing that I love about this strategy is the simplicity. On top of that, what I will share with you will ignite some thinking in your mind. From these techniques you will probably think of many more ways to get more traffic from Facebook or many other social media sites, including Twitter.

Why Most People Get No Traffic From Facebook!

Let me tell you this, the reason why a lot of people fail on Facebook is because they focus too much of their content on their primary business. In the eyes of the users, you are a spammer! If you persist in hammering peoples walls and groups with “Primary Business” promotion you are going to get no love, I don’t know about you - I need love! (ha)

How To Get Love On FaceBook
Right let me explain how to share a blog post on facebook. In fact there are many ways. The common ones are:

  • FaceBook Share Wordpress Plugin
  • Direct Link on Walls or Groups
  • SynchronizeThrough A Feed

Facebook Share Plugin

This way is quite effective, because you have the users promote your content for you. This way you develop “social prroof” from the users that actually visit your blog. This is a simple plugin install and you are away.

The issues with “spamming” is gone, because people have volunteered your information and content.

Direct Link on Walls or Groups

Another effective way to learn how to share a blog post on facebook is to post your links into groups. A word of warning! Group owners only like “valuable content” not promotion of your primary business. I hope that has really hit home now. So, for example you done a blog post on: Social Bookmarking for SEO - You would then share this valuable content with people on facebook by posting a link to the post in a group that would appreciate it.

Sycnronise Through A Feed

The final way I will share with you today is importing your blogs RSS feed directly into Facebook. This will create a “note” automatically once it is imported. This means that whenever you update your blog a new note will appear in facebook.

Personally, at this point in time I only use the Direct link option. However I would recomend using this method with the facebook share plugin. That way you will have targeted specific group members as well as passing visitors to your blog.

Have you got anyone more Facebook sharing tips?

    Hi Wayne

Valuable post there. Actually got a couple of ideas from the RSS strategy. Thanks.

    Michael
  • Hey Wayne,

Great post, I use two of the methods you mentioned. I have RSS on my profile from Chris Owen Academy, and I have tons of links going back to specific post urls and static pages.
  • I've got the share plugin installed on my blog and it's currently my favorite way of getting my content on Facebook. To me, it's a much more authentic way of developing your credibility, rather than always having to walk around and "toot your own horn."

If you're really providing value to the community, it will show. It may take some time if you're new, but keep working at it.

Your efforts will definitely pay off in the long run.
  • Hi Mike,

That is a good point, people will respect your content more if someone else posts it.

Great point my friend and thanks for passing by.
  • I totally use the Facebook Share option for my blog.

It's a great way to bring your content to your Facebook audience.

I haven't used the Facebook Share Plug-in, but I just got it and will be installing soon.

    Thanks Wayne.

  • Good move Jerome.

That definitely makes a difference to your traffic.
  • Hi Wayne,

Great tips on Facebook. My wife also uses the "note technique" Dwayne mentioned.

Sometimes, she even does a quick video that promotes our latest post and tags some people to see it.

Any other tips? Yes -- Facebook Ads!
  • Hey Derek,

Another cool tip there, again I noticed you guys using the "notes" trick. I like it.

As for Facebook Ads, haven't ventured into that as of yet, let me know if you do - I am always interested in new and effective traffic methods.
  • Hey Wayne,

This is valuable what you posted. I see so many people posting their primary opportunity with no value...For only $25 you can become the next Superstar in XYZ company! No Selling! No Talking To People! Heck you can sleep all day and get paid!

When you have valuable content like this post...People need to share it! I like to use the first two option you mentioned.

    Chat with you later...
    Josh

  • Nice one Josh.

That is the key point, the value has to be there.

Thanks for passing by my friend.
  • Hey Man,
I like posting my stuff on Facebook myself when it is a time of day where there isn't a ton of noise happening. If you post your link at the wrong time, you will be pushed off of the news feed quickly if there is a lot of activity.

    Good post,
    Eric McMillan
  • Hi Eric,

That is interesting, I must admit I never thought about the timing issues. That could be a useful point there.

    Thanks for that my friend.
  • Hey Wayne

Facebook is a great way to drive traffic to your site. I personally use 2 methods which you talk about here. Facebook Share Plug-in & Group Linking.

Both methods send a good volume of traffic (love) from FB to my blog.

These are simple strategies which go along way.

Another way to use FB is to create a NOTE on FB with a teaser of your latest content. In the teaser you put your link to the full content. You can then TAG like-minded people in this note to raise the 'profile' of the note / link. (Don't spam tag people, these are people you should have developed a good relationship with).

  • Hey Dwayne,

Cool tip, I noticed you using that little tactic lately, quite effective.
