How To Keep Your Sanity While Building Your Blog Empire!

Warning! Building Your Blog, is a Painful Process - and You May Loose Your Sanity!

throw-crazy

So, How Do You Keep Yourself Sane?

Building your blog is by no means a fast process. When you start it seems like nothing is moving and you are putting out content with no love from “Big G” or humans! However their are 2 things that you can focus on to keep you sane while you build up your traffic and start to get leads.

Meet Alexa Sparky!

Alexy Sparky is a browser plugin that tells you where your blog is “ranked” world wide. It is a very key part of your sanity. I am sure you have heard me and others that visit here regularly always refer to their “Alexa Rank”, well this is the plugin you need to see where you are.

The reason it keeps you sane is, you can see on a daily basis how your blog is progressing. It is not the only measure you need, not at all, but it is very encouraging to see it go down day by day and see some benefit from your efforts!

Network With Other Bloggers In Your Niche

This one is the most powerful! If you are building your blog on your own it is a lonely affair. However you can make it a whole lot more interesting by interacting with other blogger that are doing exactly what you are, and sharing your daily pains.

Here are a few seasoned Bloggers that I like to visit daily and always return the love, check em out:

  • Hey Wayne,

This is a really great topic! Actually when you touched on it (last week I think) it inspired me to go find out what my rank was and watch it.

Before that I had no idea what it was. It's really fun to watch it drop though, so I'm glad you've spelled it all out here. I've been watching mine for about a week now. I can't believe I wasn't doing this sooner!

Great article Wayne! What a wonderful surprise to see my name in there. Thank you!

    Have a great weekend!
    Susanna
  • Hey Wayne

    Thanks for the mention.

I see your alexa rank is flying, good to see.
Nothing wrong with some healthy competition.
  • Oh yeah, competition is always good, just need to overtake your rank now! ;)

    Thanks for passing by.

Good o'l sparky, I've tried to threaten him into giving me a better ranking by shaking my fist angrily (seems to be working - or it could be the work I'm putting in ;) )

    Thanks for the mention!

    Have a great day,
    Matt
  • I reckon it is the work you are putting in my friend.

The more quality content you put out, the more people will find you!

    Thanks for passing by...
  • Alexa is an awesome tool for gauging competition. From Seo, we always are looking at title tags, meta tags, url, and ib links, but alexa is the true measure of popularity on the interweb. I keep track of most of the blogs I frequent and some ones alexa rank is smoking (i.e. this guy named Vayne Wassell, not sure if you know him).

    Good nugget of info,
    Eric
  • Yeah, I heard of this guy, might look him sometime! :)

    Thanks for passing by.
  • Hey Wayne,

Thanks for showing the love, man!

That's pretty funny stuff, but you have a point -- it's good to be able to see some progress...

It'll keep you sane when you're "in the trenches" like we are.
  • Oh for sure! (ha)

    Thanks for passing by Derek
  • Nice tool, Wayne. Just installed it, now I don't have to keep popping over to Alexa everyday and check my rankings!

    Talk soon,

    Mike
  • Hey Mike,

That is great - It sure is useful alright - don't want you to lose your sanity like I nearly did before it! (ha)

    Thanks for passing by.
  • Hey Wayne,

    Thanks for the mention.

Alexa sparky is great. I use that tool all the time to help determine my target market and demographics. Having the plugin in your browser makes it even easier.

    Talk to you later,
    Jerome Ratliff
  • Hey Jerome,

That is a good point about target market and demographics, great way to make full use of it.

    Thanks for passing by.

This is a perfect blog post because it was something I was thinking about earlier today..

  • Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the mention and spreading the Love! It's very much appreciated.

This post fits right in with my post from last night. However, I forgot to mention "Sparky."
I better run and fix that, LOL.

    Have an awesome day!

    Ilka
  • Hey Ilka,

No worries my friend, I see you are putting out some quality posts over at your place.

Oh, don't forget Sparky! He is our biggest friend ;)
  • Yes, I know. I absolutely LOVE Sparky. ..And I fixed my post with a link back to you :)
  • Wonderful!

I am on my way over now! :)
  • Hey Wayne!

Thanks for the love this morning ; )

It's fun watching one's alexa ranking get better and better over time. It's also fun to see where others rank. It can end up being a personal challenge to outrank another...kind of fun for those of us who are competetive in nature.

    Have a Great Day!
    Twila
  • Hey Twila,

    No worries, you deserve it!

I admit I do have a competitive edge in me as well, so I fully understand that. :)
  • Hey Wayne,

    Thanks for the mentioned!

It is a great tool to have. You can monitor where traffic is coming in from and where traffic is going. There are a lot of benefits to have this tool install in your browser. Again, Thanks!

    Chat with you later...
  • Hey, no worries Josh.

That is right, it is a great tool.

    Thanks for passing by.
