Hey Wayne,

This is a really great topic! Actually when you touched on it (last week I think) it inspired me to go find out what my rank was and watch it.

Before that I had no idea what it was. It's really fun to watch it drop though, so I'm glad you've spelled it all out here. I've been watching mine for about a week now. I can't believe I wasn't doing this sooner!

Good o'l sparky, I've tried to threaten him into giving me a better ranking by shaking my fist angrily (seems to be working - or it could be the work I'm putting in ;) )

Alexa is an awesome tool for gauging competition. From Seo, we always are looking at title tags, meta tags, url, and ib links, but alexa is the true measure of popularity on the interweb. I keep track of most of the blogs I frequent and some ones alexa rank is smoking (i.e. this guy named Vayne Wassell, not sure if you know him).

Alexa sparky is great. I use that tool all the time to help determine my target market and demographics. Having the plugin in your browser makes it even easier.
