How to Increase Traffic to Your Blog Using 3 Simple Techniques!

Following on from a previous post that a done a while back: How To Increase Blog Traffic. I Decided to give you some more suggestions to ramp up that blog traffic.

When you first start blogging it can seem that nothing is working. You log onto someone else’s blog and see some mad Alexa rank and loads of comment love, and it is intimidating. The thing to remember is we all have to start with the same basic hello word press post. The key is finding what works and keep doing it, consistently!

Over my short period of blogging I have found a few things that work well for me and I am happy to share them with you. Hopefully this will help you learn how to increase traffic to your blog:

1) Give Value: This is not a direct traffic increasing task, however it is very important. You need returning visitors that will recommend your blog to other people. So if you just write any old B.S. they will be gone in a hot minute, then you will become familiar with ugly bounce rates!

So make sure you write quality posts consistently. It does not necessarily have to be every day, but keep it consistent.

2) Social Bookmarking: I am not going to state that this is the magic formula, because it isn’t. Each little thing you do adds up. And this is great for getting your posts indexed, ranked and ultimately bringing in traffic. Whether that being direct from the social bookmarking sites or indirectly via the search engines. You will also notice that some social bookmarking sites will actually index them self, which will be another fishing hook out there for you in the SERPS!

One thing about Social bookmarking though, it is annoying! It used to take me ages to create accounts and submit them. I have used soem free tools that do make it easir, but it is still a tedious task. Anyone that does it will agree. However I have beed using a service called Traffic Bug, glad I did, it has saved me hours! :)

3) Link Building: Probably the most important. Many things have changed in SEO over the years. But to my knowledge, the concept of link building has stayed consistent. Each backlink counts as a vote for your content.

So your job is to get as many votes as you can. However not all links are equal. i am not going to go deep into this in this particular post. What I will suggest is that you open your mind to not just High page ranked links, but also links that will actually get you a large number of human interest.

What do I mean? Well, you can find back links on High quality sites that will only really be seen by the search engine spider, however a link from a social media site with quality content backing it will get you a flood of real interested people, are you with me?

Right, I hope this has added value and helped you learn how to increase traffic to your blog - Get blogging! :)

  • Wayne,
These are some good tips and a great starting point for people who are having trouble getting traffic. They can painlessly implement these items and then throw on a couple of other avenues you have suggested and they might have some problems, but traffic won't be one of them.

    Great Post

  • Hey Eric,

Thanks for your comment there. Yeah, once they get the traffic they have won one of the major battles that people face in getting success online.

  • Hey Wayne,

Great post. I agree totally with the quaility first thinking. I am an SEO consultant, but with my own material I choose copywriting over SEO. It takes a little longer to get up the rankings, but it makes a better site for the Humans that you are really trying to connect with anyway.

  • Hey Chris,

That's an interesting point, I am no copy writing expert, I usually lead with SEO and just write exactly as I would speak. Keeping it real as some would say. :)

I am sure, as an SEO consultant you have a lot of value to give Chris, and I can see evidence of that on your blog.

    Cheers.

  • Hey Wayne,

Simply put! Pretty much that is what I do and it generates traffic for me. You can't go wrong with the basics!

    Have a great day!
    Josh

  • Nice 1 Josh, yep, we should never forget the basics! :)
