How To Get Your Blog Noticed and Get Love Like Mclovin!

Who Wants Love Like McLovin? :)

I don’t know if you have seen the film “SuperBad” - But that is one of my all time greats, as they say - “That’s Bad-Ass!”. McLovin is an average geek that comes up with this crazy name and re-invents himself. And the cool thing is, he gets himself a hot girl in the end, what else could a geek want?

If you want to re-invent yourself online and get love like McLovin, you need to know how to get your blog noticed. You need readers to find you as well as search engines. If you are clever you will get the best of both worlds.

How To Get Love From The Search Engines

If you are a regular reader here, you will see that I have covered quite a few keyword research methods. There is a reason for this, it is one of the most important, and most boring tasks you will do.

It is one of those annoying tasks that just has to get done. The thing is if you want to get your blog seen, you need to dig deep for long-tail keywords that your competitors have over looked because they were too lazy to do the research.

Trust me there are more highly searched and low competition keywords than you can even handle! What you need to do is make your blog topics based on these keywords so that the search engines will start to rank each of your posts.

Bare in mind in your first 60 days or so, you probably will not get much love from the search engines at all, but if you stick with it, it will go crazy and you will start to rank for more and more competitive keywords.

How To Get Human Views On Your Blog

The best way to get traffic without search engines is by connecting with people directly. This is powerful because you can build bonds with people. The two best ways I know is using Social media and blog commenting. Both of these methods can be easily abused, and that is why many do not get good results.

I suggest that you think about what you do not like that other people do on social media or blog comments and then conduct yourself in a way that you would like. Lets face it none of us like to get friend requests on facebook with a blatant biz op sale, or blog comments with SEO optimized keywords cunningly disguised as names, so don’t do it to someone else, and you will get your blog noticed. Simply connect with people with quality comments or content and they will naturally want to visit your site and tell their friends too.

Getting your blog seen is great. However, if you want people to come back to your site, you need to have quality content. This is where good copywriting
skills can come in. I am not going to pretend to be a copywriting whizz - Check out my buddy Chris Owen for that, he nails it every time!

If you are not the best copywriter, do not panic, give people some quality how-to information, and be yourself. People appreciate it if you keep it real and give them value.

So, in a nutshell the way to learn how to get your blog noticed is extensive keyword research, put out quality posts and connect with your audience and they will find you.

  • Hey Wayne,

Another great post. I love the way you tied this in together. Mclovin made that movie. Funny stuff.

I would like to add, that when you reinvent yourself, make sure you are still being you. Mclovin just did the things he always wanted to do. Don't try to be someone else, just try to put forward what you want to be seen about yourself. I have the most success with reader response when I just be myself, and write about the things that move me.

I have noticed that sometimes people take great advice like this post and twist it into something that was totally not intended.

Though I am planning to rent a Mclauren and take pics in front of Jim Yaghi's Castle in Jordan. Then I can sell some great products. LOL

  • 2 for 2 her bro.

Search engine love and People love. That's a great sandwich to be in.

Just another one to add to this great list is, if you like another bloggers content, you could write a post about it naming them. This will give them exposure and in return most good bloggers will return the favor. Exposing you to there readers!

Great article, but what I really want to know is where do you keep finding these images?

    Thanks mate,

Agree with all you say my friend. I also think it's really important to just find your own voice as a blogger and develop this over time. Then people come back because they genuinely like who you are, what you stand for and how you express this!

  • Marcus, that is the right way to think.

At first I wasn't sure of my angle, then I though just create content that I now about and express my crazy character as well. As you say, if people like it they will come back.

    Thanks for passing by buddy.

  • Hey Wayne,

"If you build it, they will come"? ;)

  • Hey Wayne,

Are you suggesting we're all geeks who have reinvented ourselves in order get hot girls? Actually, it's hot prospects in our case :-) ...

If you don't succeed with one keyword, keep trying because as you say, there are heaps of good keywords up for grabs. In fact, I don't think we'll ever run out of good long tail keywords in our industry.

The free Google Keyword Tool is awesome if you know how to use it to the best effect.

    Cheers,

    Wayne

  • Wayne my friend, I couldn't agree with you more.

There are tons of keywords out there for grabs!

As for re-inventing ourselves, I don't know about you, but I have always been "McLovin"! lol

  • Hey Wayne,

    This is great!

If someone wants their blog to get notice. First they need to give other blogs notice. They can't expect one thing if they are not giving it themselves.

    Chat with you later...
