How to do keyword research on google - Keyword Harvesting!
The best way to do this is to “harvest” keywords. You need to have a blog and you need to have the Google analytics plugin installed. If you are not sure what it is, you can search for : “analyticator” in the plug-in section on wordpress.
This is a nice plugin that will integrate your blog with google analytics.
Get Some SEo Love
Now, you need to create content on a regular basis so that you are getting some “SEO Love” from google for this to work. Once you start to rank from some keywords, log into to Google analytics and click on the traffic sources link.
Analyze The Sources
Now this is where you will see the results of your lazy mans keyword research. Click on the keywords link that will show you all the keywords that you are ranking for. These are exactly what people have used to find your blog.
Look at The Keywords with High Volume and Low bounce Rate.
In the beginning you may not see many keywords, but as you build more content you will rank for hundreds of keywords. You need to look at two key things:
- Visits
- Bounce rate
Basically you want to focus on the keywords that provide you the most visitors. Then the bounce rate will tell you the “concentration” level of the visitor. If the bounce rate is low that means that the majority of the visitors appreciated your content. You may even want to look at their average time spent on your site to further conclude.
Now all you do is optimize and create more content for these specific keywords to get more traffic and SEO love, you will have learned how to do keyword research on google while you are yawing and sleeping.
