Interesting Blogs To Read

If you are new to blogging and you are hungry to get more blog traffic then no doubt you are browsing the web and looking for blog tips and tricks.

Have you ever stopped and thought to yourself why are some blogs interesting blogs to read? The answer to this question will help you improve the readability and “stickiness” of your blog. Why is that important Wayne? Well, it is not just about driving loads of new readers to your blog, you want repeat visitors, right?

Repeat visitors are the ones that will refer your blog to friends and make your content go viral! With that said let me give you some effective blog tips and tricks:

Crazy Blog Topics!

Make sure that you do your research up front, this means you won’t be stuck steering into a blank computer screen waiting for it to happen, my buddy Matthew Pedlar done a great post on this recently: “even my mom wouldn’t believe this - by Matthew Pedlar“.

Ideally you want to make sure that you vary your topics so you do not become boring and predictable. I suggest do some crazy posts sometimes to catch your repeat visitors off guard. :)

A Picture Paints A Thousand Words

Honestly, I can’t tell you how powerful an interesting picture is for your blog. Often I spend longer on picture choice than the content. I can knock out a blog post in like 10 minutes, then spend 30 minutes getting selective on the picture, although I would not suggest you take that long I am just a freak like that! :)

However my point is this, spend a little extra time to include a picture, and make it interesting.

Big Blocks Of Text Are Painful!

If you want your readers to actually read all your content, do not clump all your text into large paragraphs! It makes people get turned off just by looking at it. Just think, you spent ages researching interesting blog topics and be one of those interesting blogs to read and even pick a great picture to illustrate your point, then waste all that effort with unreadable large paragraphs, don’t make that mistake my friend! :)

  • Hi Wayne,

    Excellent information! Again! :)

I too spend way to much time on finding the right picture. But every once in a while I find a picture first and then write a story around it. Weird how that happens.

    Have a great weekend!

    Ilka

  • Whoops, forgot to include my tip.

I don't know who it was from the "Better Bunch" who mentioned, that it was a good idea to ask your visitors to share your post if they liked it. But ever since I was made aware of it, I ask people to share my post at the end.

  • Great tip Ilka, that definitely increases traffic and social proof.

    Thanks for passing by.

  • Hey Wayne,

I never thought about the visual aspects of blog posts before, because typically I just write 500 - 600 word articles and that's it. But I can see how headings and variations in text size and colour can make a big difference between whether a visitor will read or not.

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  • Hey Wayne (great name! :)

Yeah, those small things make a big difference.

    Thanks for passing by buddy.

  • hey Wayne...

A picture sure does paint a thousand words. I also enjoy how you do this on your blog.

  • Hi Wayne,

These are some great tips! I definitely spend quite a while finding a good picture, too.

You usually have some pretty funny ones -- so that's part of your blog's charm.

  • (ha) Why, thank you Derek.

It is worth the little extra time to get that perfect picture.

Thanks for passing by my friend.

  • Great post Wayne, Starting a blog is a rewarding experience. And it gives you a unique opportunity to be a part of something bigger.

I am glad to have met people like yourself, and the rest of the "Better Bunch".

I do the picture thing myself. I spend just as much or more time sometimes looking for the perfect picture. You have to admit though, it can be fun to look.

  • Hey Thanks Chris, and yes it is fun to look for the right picture.

    Thanks for passing by buddy.

  • Hey Wayne,

I can't read a blog post that looks like a block of words. I like it when the sentences are short and space out. It just easier for me read it.

I as well do enjoy selecting pictures for my articles. Pictures draws attention.

    Well done!
    Josh

    BTW...Who is this comment ninja?

  • How did you do that. I thought I beat you, and then there you are. Doh!

  • Can 't be! You guys are saying someone beat the comment Ninja? More great tips for generating traffic for sure.

    Eric McMillan

  • Ha - Yeah, couldn't believe it myself! :)

    Thanks Wayne,
I am new at this. I have found one of what I thought would be a great post, which was long, would receive lots of comments. Well the length of it became my enemy. I have received good comments after adding some pictures to other posts.
    Great information.
    Bryan

  • Hey Wayne

1stly Matt well done on the mention and for beating Josh (looks like I will beat him also).

Its important to mix it up a bit and be yourself.
Relax your blog is your online home, so be comfy in it.
This will attract people to you and have them coming back

  • That's right Dwayne,

People will be more interested if you be yourself.

    Thanks for passing by.

  • matthewpedler
